Apetite Foods Group Pty Ltd is a wholly Australian family owned company that specialises in the development and manufacture of products for the pet food and pet treats market.
The company was founded on the principles of innovation, quality and good nutrition in pet products where all our products are produced using the highest quality ingredients, in premises that meet strict manufacturing process.
Since 1991, our company’s core operation is in the marketing of pet milk products, dried treats and manufacture of oven baked dog biscuits – selling treats throughout Australian supermarkets as well as distribute throughout the professional pet market and export globally. Our brand folio includes Blackdog, Pets Own and Vitalitae. In the development of our brands, we have found that adding value and a functional aspect to pet products is an integral part of our focus.

Launched Pets Own Cat & Dog Milk
First Pet Milk in the world, launch into Safeway and Coles Victoria
Launched Pets Own Puppy Milk
(first in the world) into Coles, Safeway and independent Grocery around Australia
Export into Japanese and US markets
Began trials of product into Japanese market which grew to around 8 20’ containers a month and the #1 pet milk in Japan and commenced export to the US.
Launched Smokehouse Snacks
A range of natural treats in Coles. First company in Australia to supply natural treats in grocery.
Launched Blackdog Pet Treats
Registered and launched Blackdog Pet Food Company and the Blackdog brand. The first organisation with the sole purpose to develop and sell natural treats to the pet retail industry.
Acquired interest in Bisco Foods
First acquired interest in Bisco Foods,
a dog biscuit manufacturing business
Moved office and Warehouse
Moved office to larger premise in Port Melbourne and leased warehouse in Spotswood.
Full ownership of Bisco Foods
Acquired full ownership of Bisco Foods and established joint venture with SJ Alliance for export of treats to China.
Moved Office and Warehouse
Moved office and warehouse to larger premises in Sunshine North opposite Biscuit Factory.
Apetite Foods Group
Restructured business to form Apetite Foods Group which incorporated Apetite Foods, Blackdog Pet Food Company and Bisco Foods.
New Manufacturing Business
Purchased manufacturing business in Melbourne to produce ever increasing demand on Blackdog Natural Treats range.
Launched Vitalitae
Launched Vitalitae the first treat range containing hemp seed oil and protein with formulations for Skin and Coat, Hip and Joint, Calming, Digestion and Age Protection.
Launched Blackdog Nutrition
Developed a Super premium
growing puppy and maintenance food
for adult dog. Featuring 3 varieties, Chicken
Lamb, and Ocean Fish.
